Cane webbing is cane webbing that is pre-woven and primarily used for re-seating cane chairs that have a groove around the seat opening rather than drilled holes.
It is also used on cabinet doors and boat interiors for ventilation. The pre-woven cane webbing is held in place in the groove with the proper size spline and glue. On cabinet doors the cane webbing can be glued and stapled to the back and then finished with a molding to cover the staples.
Free how to cane webbing instructions will be included with your cane webbing order. Cut pieces of cane webbing can NOT be returned.< Please measure carefully.
IMPORTANT: Please choose the size of spline to match the width of chair seat GROOVE, across the top of the groove. There are 4 sizes of spline shown below. The spline is wedge-shaped to fit the groove with the cane in place. Example: #9 is cut to fit a groove that is 1/4″ wide at the top and narrower at the bottom. Do NOT measure your old spline.
NOTE: If you’re the least bit uncertain about the size of the spline for your chair, we suggest that you also order an extra coil of a different size. One extra coil of spline is a lot cheaper than ordering more spline later and having to pay for the postal charges. Individual coils of spline are available at the bottom of this page.
If your chair has drilled HOLES in the wood frame around the perimeter of the seat, and does NOT have a groove in the wood frame, you need a Chair Cane Kit.
How to Order Traditional Hexagonal Pattern Cane Webbing
Select SIZE and WIDTH of cane webbing from entries that follow. Cane Webbing is sold by the running foot. Enter number of feet in the quantity box. See above for more info re: “running feet” measurements.
Remember to order SPLINE and WEDGES for your project.
Don’t plan on reusing the old spline. It usually gets damaged when you remove it. Spline is cheap. If you don’t order it with your cane webbing, you’ll need to pay shipping charges a 2nd time.

If you’re really not sure of the spline size, order 2 sizes. Once again, it’s better to have everything you need & avoid additional shipping costs.
